HERE’S OUR REFERRAL PROCESS
1. Identifying the Need:
Parent/Caregiver Concerns: Parents or caregivers often initiate the process by noticing developmental delays or concerns about their child's abilities.
Healthcare Provider Observations: Pediatricians or other healthcare providers may observe potential issues during routine check-ups or examinations.
Educational Professionals: Teachers or school personnel may also identify concerns and recommend evaluation.
2. Initial Consultation and Referral:
Primary Care Physician (PCP):
The PCP is often the first point of contact. They will evaluate the child's concerns, conduct examinations, and may perform initial screenings.
If necessary, the PCP will provide a referral to a specialist, such as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech-language pathologist.
3. Scheduling an Evaluation:
Therapy Provider Contact: Once the referral is received, SOAR Therapy will contact you to schedule an initial evaluation.
Insurance Verification: SOAR Therapy will work with families to confirm insurance coverage.
4. Initial Evaluation:
Assessment: Our therapists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess your child's strengths and weaknesses. This may involve standardized tests, observations, and interviews with the parents/caregivers.
Treatment Plan Development: Based on the evaluation, our therapists will develop a personalized treatment plan with specific goals and interventions.
5. Treatment and Ongoing Therapy:
Regular Sessions: Your child will attend regular therapy sessions as prescribed in the treatment plan.
Progress Monitoring: Our therapists will monitor your child's progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
Communication: Regular communication between our therapist, parents/caregivers, and the referring physician is essential.

Contact your child’s primary care physician to begin the referral process. At our clinic, pediatric outpatient therapy sessions are designed to be engaging, supportive, and tailored to your child’s individual needs. Sessions typically last 60 minutes and use play-based, goal-focused activities to help your child build skills in a comfortable, encouraging environment.
Your therapist will guide your child through activities selected to support their treatment plan while keeping them motivated and confident. Parents are welcome to observe, ask questions, and learn simple strategies to use at home.
Each visit ends with a brief check-in so you know what was practiced and how to support continued progress between sessions.
Our goal is to make therapy a positive experience for every child—and to partner with you every step of the way.

At SOAR Therapy we value parent involvement and encourage all parents to be active participants in their child’s plan of care. Parents are allowed back in sessions and are encouraged to carryover techniques and skills to the home environment.
