Speech Therapy Methods
-
Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) is a specialized, evidence-based therapy approach designed to help children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech improve motor planning for clear, consistent speech. During sessions, the therapist uses a combination of visual, auditory, and tactile cues—along with repeated practice of meaningful words and phrases—to help your child learn accurate movement patterns for speech. DTTC is highly individualized, supportive, and focused on building confidence through successful, functional communication.
-
Feeding therapy helps children develop the skills they need to eat safely, confidently, and comfortably. During sessions, your therapist uses play-based, sensory-friendly activities to support progress with chewing, swallowing, accepting new foods, and mealtime routines. Therapy is individualized to your child’s needs and follows their pace, focusing on reducing stress and building positive experiences with food. Parents are guided with strategies to support successful, enjoyable meals at home.
-
The Beckman Oral Motor approach uses gentle, structured exercises to help improve strength, range of motion, and control of the lips, cheeks, tongue, and jaw. During sessions, the therapist provides guided movement patterns to support more effective feeding, speech, and oral coordination. This hands-on method is comfortable, individualized, and designed to help children build the oral motor skills they need for safe eating and clearer communication. Parents receive guidance on simple techniques to support progress at home.
-
AAC supports children who need help expressing themselves by using tools such as picture boards, communication books, or speech-generating devices. During therapy, your child learns how to use these tools to share wants, needs, ideas, and feelings—while still encouraging and supporting verbal speech. Sessions focus on building confidence, increasing independence, and making communication easier in everyday routines. Families receive guidance on how to use AAC at home so communication can happen anywhere.
-
The Cycles Approach is a research-supported method used to help children who have highly unintelligible speech. Instead of focusing on one sound until it’s mastered, therapy “cycles” through different speech patterns—like consonant clusters or final sounds—giving your child repeated, structured exposure over time. Sessions use engaging, play-based activities to help your child practice targeted sounds while keeping communication fun and motivating. This approach helps children make steady progress toward clearer, more confident speech.

MNRI® (Masgutova Neurosensory Reflex Integration) focuses on supporting a child’s development by working with foundational reflex patterns. During sessions, the therapist uses gentle, guided movements and sensory-based activities aimed at helping the nervous system become more organized and responsive. Some families report improvements in regulation, coordination, and overall motor skills. Therapy is individualized, child-centered, and designed to be calming and supportive. Parents are coached on simple strategies to continue at home.
